An Industrial Designer from the National Institute of Design, Ahmadabad, India, Ashish started his design entrepreneurship journey, 28 years ago, by co-founding one of India’s pioneering design practices, Elephant. 

Ashish leads the Product & Retail Experience Innovation group but believes that design must not be narrowed into disciplines and understanding users is a key component of any innovation activity. Over the years he has lead several design projects ranging from consumer appliances related to air, water & energy, medical diagnostic equipment, wearable electronics, automotive, experiential and retail environments.

He and his team at Elephant Design who have been a recipients of several awards including Spark (USA), Greener Gadgets (USA), CII Design Excellence and 4 times India Design Mark, believe that design & designer both need to be responsible and that the true success of a project lies in business, people connect & ecological success. His consulting experience spans across Indian start-ups & Corporates, MNCs from South East Asia, Japan as well as Europe.

 Ashish has been a speaker at various conventions &seminars and regularly conducts workshops on Growth by Design & Product Innovation Process. He was invited to speak at International Design Congress, Gwangju, Korea. He is a juror at Design for Change, Power of Ideas run by   CIIE-IIM-A & mentor for several start up initiatives incubated by CIIE, MIT ID and Intel – Innovate for Digital India. He will also join the jury at Taiwan International Student Design Competition 2017 this year.

Most recently, Ashish delivered a keynote at the International Symposium at the Naju Innovation City in Korea. This event was part of the 2016 World Eco-friendly Design Expo “Seeking better life through eco-friendly design”.  

 Ashish was honorary member of India Design Council. He is the President of Association of Designers of India, an active member of the Design Alliance Asia and has been on the jury panel of the India Design Mark since its inception.
