Bajaj DTSi Oil Bottle

Packaging a new brand in the “well oiled” segment

Background

Bajaj Auto Ltd. is a leading motorcycle manufacturer, also offering automotive lubricant oils under their own product brand for 4 stoke engines.

Challenge

Consumers of engine oils expressed a clear concern towards the genuineness of the product. The shops selling automotive lubricants are cluttered and packages have to fight for attention. The true value of using Bajaj oil had to come through the packaging proposition. The final bottle structure had to allign itself to the production assembly proportions of a large automotive oil manufacturer.

Solution

The bottle presents a strong association with Bajaj as a brand and reflects the automotive style language seen in its flagship brand. The cap has been designed with a unique peel friendly tamper proof seal. The cap doubles as a nut runner to open the oil filling port in 4 stroke bike engines. A semi transparent band communicates the quantity of oil. The bottle is tested for extreme stacking, damage and degradation and designed for blow moulding at high volume output and comes in 3 size variants.

Result

The new oil brand from Bajaj found instant acceptance by discerning customers and today is marketed across India.
