Elephant designed a premium, abstract tread pattern for CEAT’s truck tyres that communicated strength and longevity while meeting strict functional requirements. 
Legacy in Motion
Founded in 1924 in Italy and later established in India in 1958, CEAT has grown to become one of the country’s leading tyre manufacturers, producing over 15 million tyres a year. Known for its innovation in the automotive industry, CEAT focuses on safety, durability, and performance across diverse terrain. The brand approached Elephant to craft a tread design for its long-haul truck tyre, the Winmile X3D, aiming to blend superior functionality with a compelling visual identity.
Strength Meets Efficiency
CEAT sought to reinforce its position as a provider of high-mileage, durable truck tyres through a tread design that delivered on both performance and aesthetics. The goal was to visually echo the strength and reliability of the tyre without compromising on technical efficiency. The result was a refined, symbolic design that translated endurance and traction into a visual language, strengthening the brand's functional appeal with an emotional edge.Practical Symbolism
The Winmile X3D tread had to feel as reliable as it was functional. Inspired by the Everest range, the tread communicates scale, stability, and unwavering strength—essential cues for CEAT’s customer base. However, this expression had to be counterbalanced with the practicalities of road behaviour.
Too much texture and ruggedness would lead to increased wear and reduced efficiency. Elephant worked closely with CEAT to tune the ‘land to sea’ ratio to 72%, ensuring optimal road contact, smooth wear, and reduced resistance. This balancing act ensured both performance and aesthetics worked in harmony. 
Inspired by Nature
Design templates were developed around terrain and creatures that embodied strength. “Everest” was selected as the final concept - capturing resilience and majesty through abstraction.
