Founded in 2008, Ecolibrium Energy is focused on building a sustainable, energy-rich future using IoT-based solutions. Their Smartsense product helps monitor, analyze, and optimize industrial energy usage—vital in a world where industrial power wastage touches billions of units annually. Despite its capability, Smartsense’s earlier design, built from sheet metal, led to production constraints, functional inefficiencies, and a lack of distinctiveness. The brand approached Elephant to transform Smartsense into a product that not only performed better but looked the part of an intelligent, next-gen device.
Transforming Industrial Energy Usage
Ecolibrium aimed to position Smartsense as a standout industrial IoT product—technologically superior and visually distinct. This vision translated into a ground-up hardware redesign, using polycarbonate materials for better aesthetics, durability, and EMI shielding. An IP65-rated polycarbonate casket was introduced to allow for outdoor usage, while a puncturable outer frame enabled quick, disruption-free installation. The transformation elevated Ecolibrium’s identity as a leader in industrial energy intelligence and laid the foundation for a unified design language across product variations. Ecolibrium’s Smartsense needed to work within rugged, unpredictable industrial environments—indoors and out. To meet these challenges, Elephant introduced a puncturable outer frame that enabled tool-less installation and maintenance. This ensured no disruption to existing power infrastructure while offering unparalleled ease-of-use. The material shift to polycarbonate wasn’t just about looks. It boosted durability, supported EMI shielding, and made the product IP65 compliant through a robust casket-like enclosure. These additions together made Smartsense a smarter, tougher solution—aligned with its core purpose of intelligent energy monitoring.
