Astral Bondtite Infinity
Elephant Design redesigned Bondtite’s jar structure for grip, handling and stacking across sizes.
Successful Reinvention
For the Shelf, and the Site
Multi-directional cap grip and texture design
Integrated handle design for larger packs
Applicator and coupon integration within the cap
Stackability and secondary carton evaluation
The design system adapts Bondtite’s distinctive jar form across 50 gm to 5 kg packs. A consistent structural language, textured grip zones and proportions give the range a recognizable identity while addressing the demands of everyday adhesive use.A Legacy of Bonding
Astral began operations in 1998 with polymer piping systems and went on to introduce CPVC piping to India, expanding into adhesives and other building materials. Built on quality and innovation, the company has grown into a trusted name across these categories. Bondtite, part of the Astral Group for over 25 years, offers epoxy, PVA, rubber, cyanoacrylate and industrial adhesives, with a reputation for strength, quality and reliable bonding.
For its flagship wood adhesive, Astral approached Elephant Design to rethink the primary packaging. The brief was to create a sturdy, easy to use jar that users would recognise as distinctly Bondtite through its form and physical features, while addressing everyday challenges in opening, dispensing, carrying and storing the product.
Strength Made Tangible
Bondtite's established reputation for strength, quality and trust called for a packaging design that communicated these values through the product itself. Elephant Design developed the Infinity jar, drawing inspiration from the Bondtite logo to create a continuous structural belt around the container.
A wide base and tapering profile support stability and grip, while a textured, multi-directional cap makes opening easier, even when adhesive residue collects around the rim. Larger packs incorporate an ergonomic handle for carrying, and carefully considered dimensions support stacking and transport.
Adapted across pack sizes, the Infinity design gives Bondtite a consistent, recognisable physical identity while addressing the practical demands of carpenters, contractors and hardware retailers. The Language of Infinity
The Infinity belt takes its cue from the Bondtite logo, wrapping around the jar as both a structural feature and a recognisable brand signature. A proprietary mesh pattern adds texture where grip matters, while the embossed logo, matte grip areas and gloss chamfered highlights give the container a more engineered finish.
The form evolved through concept exploration, 3D modelling and detailing. We considered the jar’s proportions, grip zones, cap geometry, wall thickness and material requirements, translating the Infinity concept into a practical design for blow-moulded HDPE jars and injection-moulded PP caps.Grip, Twist, Carry
Opening an adhesive jar can become difficult when residue builds up around the rim. The cap’s multi-directional grip, tactile features and clearly defined grip surfaces help users maintain a firm hold. For the 5 kg pack, an integrated handle with considered cross-sections and finger profiles supports carrying while reducing the risk of pinching and fatigue
The larger pack incorporates an applicator that fits within the cap assembly, keeping it accessible when needed. Snap-locking details hold the applicator in position, while the design also accommodates a peel-off coupon within the cap.Stackable by Design
The jar’s wide base and considered proportions support stability, while structural dimensions and wall thicknesses are tuned for stacking within defined secondary carton configurations. The same design thinking extends from individual handling to transport and storage, helping the pack family accommodate the practical constraints of hardware shops and working sites.
The jar gives Bondtite a distinctive physical presence through its sculpted belt, tapered body, textured grip and bold cap geometry. Across the 50 gm to 5 kg formats, these elements create a visual language rooted in everyday use.Similar Projects
