While Indian bathrooms evolved into luxury spaces, water heaters remained functional eyesores. Symphony® SPA™ reimagines this essential appliance as a sophisticated wellness centrepiece with smart capabilities and contemporary design. 
A History of Innovation
For over 25 years, Elephant has collaborated with Symphony®, a brand that revolutionized the air cooler segment globally. Building on their history of market transformation - like their pioneering plastic air coolers in the 90s - Symphony® approached our product design team to enter the water heater category. 
Wellness Beyond Warmth
Symphony® envisioned transforming the humble water heater from a necessity into a sophisticated bathroom centrepiece with smart capabilities. They wished to create a wellness device that would address multiple pain points: poor water quality affecting skin and hair health, lack of precise temperature control, and dated aesthetics clashing with modern bathroom designs. This required reimagining the entire water heating experience via innovative technology and a contemporary design language that would set a new industry benchmark. Identifying Challenges and Prototyping
Our initial workshop with Symphony® & deep dive into usage patterns revealed critical pain points: poor water quality leading to skin and hair problems, lack of precise temperature control, and dated aesthetics that clashed with contemporary bathroom designs. We identified an opportunity to create a smart water heater that could complement modern bathroom aesthetics while addressing these functional challenges. 
From Utility to Wellness Center piece
Our comprehensive redesign transformed this neglected appliance into a sophisticated wellness device. The Puropod™'s 9-layer filtration system effectively tackles hard water damage to skin and hair, while its easy-replacement design solves maintenance challenges. 
convenience of control
The gesture-based wireless controller with multiple presets—including child mode to prevent burns and eco-mode for energy efficiency—brings intelligence to temperature management. The circular design with ambient blue glow creates a floating effect that complements contemporary bathroom aesthetics.
