Optimized for E-commerce packaging
Traditional air coolers lacked portability and aesthetic compatibility with modern interiors. Symphony Duet introduces a tabletop personal cooler with obelisk design that compacts for storage, creating an entirely new product segment suited to urban lifestyles.
Disrupting Personal Cooling
Symphony's long-standing partnership with Elephant Design has produced numerous successful product launches that have defined India's cooling market. This collaboration has consistently pushed industry boundaries, from compact residential coolers to commercial solutions. For the Duet project, both teams identified an underserved "personal cooling" category where conventional, bulky coolers failed to meet evolving consumer needs.
Breaking Cuboid Traditions
Symphony aimed to transcend the industry's standard cuboidal design language that had remained essentially unchanged despite significant technological advancement. Their vision required creating a truly portable device that would seamlessly integrate with modern lifestyles while maintaining powerful cooling performance.
Coolers as Lifestyle Devices
The Duet's premium finish incorporates electric blue accents against darker tones that complement modern gadgets within home environments. Touch panel controls, mood lighting, and integrated carrying handle enhance both functionality and visual appeal, while the entire unit packs into innovative tubular packaging optimized for e-commerce channels. This revolutionary approach establishes an entirely new product category that bridges personal cooling with lifestyle-driven industrial design.
Tabletop Cooling Reimagined
Traditional air coolers faced significant limitations in modern living spaces—bulky dimensions, visual incongruence with contemporary interiors, and poor portability created friction between functionality and lifestyle needs. The unchanging cuboidal industry standard seemed increasingly incompatible with tabletop applications, especially in multi-use environments like kitchens, bedrooms, or small commercial settings.
Monolithic Form Meets Modular Function
The Duet's distinctive obelisk architecture represents a clear departure from conventional cooler design, with a converging rather than diverging tank structure enabled by ultrasonic welding. This slender 1.5-foot profile incorporates click-open pedestal feet that provide stability during use while snugly retracting for storage, creating a compact form that occupies 50% less space than traditional units.
Why Innovate in this space?
The cuboidal shape has been the industry standard for coolers for a long time and the attitude of why fix something that isn’t broken? is still prevalent – and why not? Most use-cases for coolers are perfectly fulfilled, so change is a matter of perspective. But this shape is far from ideal if we consider bringing to the cooler to the desktop space.
